Visitors to the independent wine makers’ fair in Paris last weekend were invited to a tasting designed to demonstrate the effect of global warming on wine. Husting banged a knife on a bottle to “sound the alarm” and attract the attention of oenophiles.

“France will always have wine, but if the temperatures go up too much, one day there will no longer be any pinot noir in Burgundy,” he said, referring to the famous variety of dark grapes.
